We’ve been following Love Aesthetics‘ Ivania Carpio for quite some time now. The queen of minimalism, the Dutch blogger’s signature all-white palette and simplistic styling has made her an internationally-recognized fashion and style savant. When is comes to trends, Ivania is always ahead of them. She was pairing casual sneakers with elegant ensembles long before it became a style phenomenon, and her hair was dyed gray seasons before Kelly Osbourne. Our favorite trend that she’s predicted over the years was the rise of marble, back in 2013. She was the first person we really remember wearing marble as a print, and she even created her own “marble manicure“. Needless to say, we’ve been obsessed with marble ever since.
The trend which got its start in the fashion world, has now (thankfully) made its way into the world of interiors, dominating recent design trade shows, including the Stockholm Furniture Fair, Milan design week and London Design Festival. Marble as a material has always been a main staple in architecture, art, and design, but over the last two years we’ve watched as marble prints and detailing have exploded in the world home furnishings, lighting, accessories, and tableware.
As a material, its monochromatic color gives it a versatile quality. Marble pieces can be seamlessly incorporated into all-white spaces like Jessie Randall’s home (above), and can just as easily be placed into a warm space with rich tones of brown and gray like Marina’s home featured on Apartment Therapy (below).
